Cleta Miller

Cleta Miller, 93 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (February 21, 2019) at her home.

Cleta was born July 20, 1925 in Kirksville and is the daughter of William C. and Mary Pearl Caldwell Miller. On January 2, 1943 in Mineral Wells, Texas she was untied in marriage to Roscoe F. (Bill) Wright, Jr. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1963. They were blessed with one son, Edward J Wright and wife Karen.

Cleta is survived by one son, Edward Wright and wife Karen of Bixby, OK, two grandchildren, Shane and Tanya Wright, Holli and Randy Self and five great grandchildren. Cleta was married to Dennis (Doc) Gregory on October 25, 1979 and Kenneth B. Miller on December 29, 2001. Also surviving are six step children, Wynn Evelyn Bigghorse, JoEllen Cable, Janey Winkley, Kenneth Brooks Miller, Diane McLaughlin, Mary Ann Lewis plus many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, parents and nine older sibling.

Cleta graduated from Kirksville Senior High School with the class of 1943. She worked at JC Penny’s for 37 years and was the first manager of catalog department and several other departments.

Cleta was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 70 years and active in several departments and a singer with the senior songster, faithful supporter of the Christian Community Food Bank. Cleta traveled in all states and was an avid Cardinal fan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday (February 25, 2019) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Carrol Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service time from 10-11. A private interment will be held at Maple Hills Cemetery at a later time.
