Clyde Samuel Motter

May 8, 1930 — May 2, 2022

Clyde Samuel Motter, 91, of Kirksville, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2022.

The son of Sam Motter and Blanche (Dear) Motter was born May 8, 1930 in Adair County.  On April 2, 1950 he married Anna Jolene Miller, who preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death are his parents, sister, and brother-in-law Vera and Lando Scott, niece, Phyllis Carlin and brother-in-law Dean Miller.

Clyde was reared in Adair County and attended Mulberry School and Kirksville High School graduating with the Class of 1948.  He worked for Sangster Oil Company and Churchill Truck Lines until his retirement in 1990.  He served 20 years on the Board of Directors at the Bank of Kirksville.

Clyde was a member of the First Christian Church, Moila Temple, El Kadir Shrine Club, a member of the Ely Commandery #22 Knights Templar, Caldwell Chapter No. 53, and Kirksville Council No. 44.  He was a Past Master and 65 year member of the Masonic Lodge 366 and served as the Grand Sword Bearer for the State Masonic Lodge in 1993.  He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and the Kirksville Optimist Club.

He enjoyed camping, traveling, and reading Western novels.  He loved visiting with people, was always willing to help anyone in need and had a great sense of humor.  He took care of Jolene for many years and they enjoyed life to the fullest.  His pride and joy was his family and especially his grandchildren.

Clyde is survived by two daughters, Judy (Dana) Forrester and Joyce (Frank) Niece; four grandchildren, Matthew (Tiffany) March, Bryan (Grace) March, Adam Forrester (Toni); and Allison (Alicia) Smith; and seven great grandchildren, Lyndi Jo March, Lilyan March, Dylan March, Autumn March, Paxton Howell, Jude Forrester and Vale Forrester; brother, Dale (Marijane) Motter, niece Lois (John) Davison, and nephews Brent (Patty) Motter, and Dale D.
