Clyde Shultz, 97, of Unionville, MO, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Clyde Franklin Shultz was born in Unionville, MO, on January 10, 1922, the son of Harley Clyde and Neita Emma (Richardson) Shultz, who preceded him in death. He was reared in Putnam County and married Virginia “Jenny” Mulanix on August 31, 1943. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2016. Clyde was engaged in the trucking industry for many years. He owned and operated his own truck. He hauled milk, coal, and grain and for 18 years he leased to Husted Truck line out of Lincoln, NE. For 70 years Clyde and Jenny, with the help of their family, owned and operated their farm, which has been in the family for over a century. Clyde and his son Jerry raised turkeys, cows, and hogs for many years. For several years Clyde and Jenny owned and operated Shultz Billiards in Unionville. He also worked a number of years for Public Water Supply District #1 of Putnam County. Clyde retired in 1987, but continued to maintain the farm for several years during retirement. He also served on the Unionville City Council and served eight years as mayor of Unionville. Clyde enjoyed traveling with Jenny and his family. He also enjoyed watching westerns of TV and spending time with his family telling tales of life on the road. Clyde was a member of the Frist Christian Church in Unionville.
Clyde is survived by two daughters, Penny (Chuck) Blue of Livonia, MO, and Shelle Howard of Unionville, MO. His surviving grandchildren are Cindy (Greg) Harbert, Jeff Shultz, Mindy Blue, Wendy Blue, of Unionville, MO; Candy Blue of Livonia, MO; Tyson (Leah) Howard of Council Bluffs, IA; and Nicole (Eric) Lutz of Unionville, MO, as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Robert, an infant daughter, Candace Jo, a son-in-law, Kevin Howard, a daughter-in-law, Kay Shultz, a sister, Juanita Kent, and an infant great granddaughter, Kenzie Blue.
Funeral services for Clyde Shultz will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 4, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Unionville Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
