Connie Allen, 68, of Livonia, Missouri, passed away of kidney failure at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

Connie Sue (Douthart) Allen was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, on April 22, 1952, the daughter of William and Verna (McCartney) Douthart, who preceded her in death.  She was reared near Bonaparte, Iowa, and married Paul (Lightweight) Allen in Ottumwa, Iowa, on March 19, 1972.  Paul preceded her in death on May 19, 2006.

Connie and Paul began married life in Cincinnati, Iowa, but spent most of their married life in Livonia, Missouri.  Among other places, Connie worked at Missouri Mining, Knight’s Rifle in Centerville, Iowa (where she spent many years), and Lee’s Container.  She loved being at home with her family.  Connie was an avid rock hunter and like to paint rocks as well.  She was meticulous about her lawn care, even occasionally trimming the yard with scissors.  Connie was a highly active person who found it hard to sit still.  She liked to shop.  She was a bighearted person who cared for others.  Connie was a straight shooter who did not tolerate nonsense from anyone.

Connie is survived by her two children, Robbie Allen of Livonia, Missouri, and Laurie (partner Brandon Roberts) Allen of South Gifford, Missouri.  Her grandchildren are Jessa (fiancé Kevin Harvey) Meseke, Caleb (partner Riley Hendee) Meseke, and Nevaeh Ryals.  Connie’s three great grandchildren are Tempyr and Raelyn Ross, and Coy Meseke.  She is also survived by three brothers, Ronald, Donald, and Michael Coleman of Bonaparte, Iowa, and one sister, Linda (partner Rick Cole) of Centerville, Iowa.

Others who preceded Connie in death are a brother, William Douthart, Jr. and a sister, Carol Douthart, as well as two siblings who died in infancy.
