Connie Thomas, 75, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
Connie Joe Thomas was born in Livonia, Missouri, on February 10, 1945, the daughter of George and Imogene (Ruggles) Newman who preceded her in death. She graduated from Lancaster (MO) High School in 1963. Connie married Buddy Thomas in Livonia on June 19, 1964, and he survives at home. Connie and Buddy lived most of their married life in Livonia and then moved to Unionville in 2003. Connie worked for 28 years as a secretary to the principal at Putnam County R-1 High School, retiring in 2000.
Connie had a reserved and quiet personality. She carried herself with dignity and class and was meticulous about her personal appearance and her home. She loved to bake pies and cook with her family. She and Buddy attended antique sales and they were always seen at their grandsons’ school activities.
Connie is survived by her son, Brad (Evelyn) Thomas of Gilbert, Arizona, and two grandsons, Brandon (Samantha) Thomas and Brett Thomas. One great grandson, Cooper Thomas, also survives, as well as a brother, Milton Roger (Brenda) Newman of Colona, Illinois. Her surviving sisters-in-law survive are Anna Newman, Melba Adkins, Gwynn Newman, Joyce (Sam) Rose, and Cinda (John) Blankinship. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Connie was also preceded in death by three brothers, Neal Newman, Ronald Newman, and Garett Newman and one sister-in-law, Annie Netherda.
Graveside services for Connie Thomas will be at the McCune Cemetery east of Unionville at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2020. There will be no visitation.
Memorials for Connie are suggested to the McCune Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th , Unionville, Missouri.
