Dale E. McFarland, 71 of Amarillo, TX passed away Tuesday (June 26, 2018) with loved ones by his side.
Dale was born in Kirksville, MO on December 15, 1946 to Waldo and Thelma (Williams) McFarland, the oldest of two sons. After graduating high school he worked for McGraw-Edison for 6 years before beginning his career with the Santa fe railroad which took him from Chicago, IL to Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO, all throughout the southwest, meeting many friends along the way. He retired in Amarillo, TX.
He was a member of Adair Lodge #366 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed bowling with the Amarillo Bowling League in Amarillo, which he enjoyed with dear friends.
Dale is survived by his wife, Kay McFarland of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Kevin Head (Beth Ann) of O’Fallon, MO and Jeff Head (Shelly) of Smithville, MO; one brother, Darrell McFarland (Linda) of Red Lion, PA; one step son, Les Yardley (Joyce) of Lake Ozark, MO; two step daughters, Zia Yardley of Olathe, KS and Sarena Allgood of Amarillo, TX; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two special aunts and several cousins he enjoyed visiting with at family gatherings and phone calls quite regularly.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be missed by his little white dog, J.J. that walked with him the last 10 years of his journey.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday (July 1, 2018), Masonic service will be held at 2:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Ellsworth officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
