Dale Clifton West, 93 of Kirksville, MO passed away Friday (March 22nd, 2024) at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The son of Harry Richard and Christie Almira (March) West was born November 22nd, 1930 in Downing, MO. On August 14th, 1955 in Kirksville, Dale married Lelah Mae Otto.
Dale is survived by his Son, Gregory West and wife Alicia of League City, TX; Daughter, Marsha Hutcheson and companion Lee Overstreet of Hurdland, MO; two Grandchildren, Kelly Offineer and husband Darren of Centralia, MO, and Jeremy Sayre and wife Blair of Concordia, MO; five Great Grandchildren, Kalee and husband Kevin Heavin of Vichy, MO, Madi, Taylor, Gus, and Allie; and two Great-Great Grandchildren, Kynslee, and Kail.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and twin sisters, Marian Cook and Maxine Crabtree.
Dale grew up in Downing and graduated high school in 1949. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After getting married, Dale and Lelah moved to Independence, MO where he worked at SWB in the office. After moving back to Kirksville in 1959, Dale worked for SouthWestern Bell as a cable splicer. He enjoyed going to his Kids, Grandkids, and Great-Grandkids sporting events as they grew up. He also enjoyed traveling with Lelah and spending time with his family.
Dale was very active in the community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, DAV, Masonic Lodge, York Rite Bodies, the El Kadir Shrine, LaPlata Gold Men’s Association, Booster Club, and Telephone Pioneer Association. He was the past President of the Temple Board at the Masonic Lodge, Master & Secretary, and Deputy District Grand Master.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28th, 2024 with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
The Funeral service will be Friday, March 29th, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jewel Cemetery in Kirksville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Home of Missouri or Jewel Cemetery.
