David James Meswarb

David James Meswarb, 81, of Queen City, Missouri passed away from cancer on August 30 th , 2022. David was born August 29, 1941 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Arthur E. Meswarb, and Alice Johnson Meswarb, and brother, Cameron Meswarb. He leaves behind brother, Dr. Norman J. Meswarb, son, David Eric Bemis, daughter Angela Marlene Delp, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous friends, including Sharon Gibbons, David and Angela’s mother.

After graduating high school in Cedar Falls, David studied at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA and graduated in 1967. David practiced Chiropractic in: Florence, SC, Eupora, MS, Greenwood, MS, Cleveland, MS, Indianola, MS, Jackson, MS, Baker, LA, St Francisville, LA, and in Antigua.

David joined the Bahá’í Faith in September 1962, in Davenport, Iowa while he was attending Palmer Chiropractic College. He lived every moment spreading the word of God everywhere he went. He served on Bahá’í Local Spiritual Assemblies in Davenport, IA, Rock Island, IL, Greenwood, MS, Minter City, MS,  and Baton Rouge, LA. He lived in Antiqua-Barbuda between 1982 and 1994 where he served on the National Spiritual Assemblies of the Leeward Islands and the East Leeward Islands. While serving as a pioneer in Antigua-Barbuda, he aslo served as an assistant to a number Auxiliary Board members.

He attended the 8 th International Bahá’í Convention in Haifa, Israel while serving as a National Spiritual Assembly member.  It was his special honor to be invited to attend the 100 th Anniversary of the Ascension of Bahá'u'lláh in Akka, Israel. He especially enjoyed seeing old friends at the Bahá’í World Congress in New York City.

After David left Antigua, he returned to Rock Hill, South Carolina where he lived with friends for a time and eventually found Queen City – located just between his daughter and a friend in Kansas City.  He quickly became an unforgettable member of the community. David especially enjoyed attending Church Bible Study Classes in both Queen City and Lancaster and having lunch with friends at the Nutrition Center in Lancaster.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home. Burial was in Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, Missouri.
