Donald Lee Farmer

September 20, 1943 — June 12, 2024

Donald Lee Farmer 80, passed away Wednesday (June 12, 2024) at his rural Glenwood, Missouri, home. The son of Rondy and Ruth (Sparks) Farmer he was born September 20, 1943, and grew up and attended grade school in the Worthington and Queen City area. He and his family moved the the Quad Cities where he attended high school and graduated from the Davenport High School. After graduation Don joined the United States Air Force where he served for four yerars.  While stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, he survived the great Alaska earthquake and a plane crash into the Atlantic Ocean.  He served another two years in the Army Reserves.

Don met Kimberly Wilson on a trip as she was returning to the United States from England and it was love at first sight.  They were married February 14, 1970, in Davenport, Iowa.

He worked for Oscar Myers and retired from there after thirty years.  He had an excellent work record and received several awards.  In 1984 they moved to rural Glenwood, Missouri.

Don is survived by his wife Kim, sons Stephen Hinrichs and wife Shea, Donald Lee (Donnie) Farmer Jr., David Farmer and wife Chandra, and Dustin Farmer and wife Cassie.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Darius and husband  Chaz Shultz, Demi and husband Dylan Vorhees, Cody and wife Kelsey Roberts, Samantha Roberts and partner Katie Klosterman, Haley Budig, Emily Farmer, Desi Farmer, Corbin Farmer, Rondy Farmer, Ethan Witt, Kallie Farmer, Blake Hinrichs, Jeremy Hinrichs, Kaytlyn Palkoner, Lucas Lanham, and Allie Lanham, and great-grandchildren Anna Farmer, Amielia Robeson, Teddy Roberts, Desmond Roberts, Amity Jones, Baby Rue, Lattie Shultz, Kalvin Schultz, Chase Palkoner, Aria Slama, and Eryss Slama.  He is also survived by a sister Beverly Diltz a niece Donia and husband Brett Steele and family, a host of friends and family, and special friends Jake and Blondie Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Roy and Emilly Rose Wilson, brother-in-law Jeffery Diltz, a nephew Derrick Diltz, and several Aunts and Uncles,

He attended Schuyler County Church of Faith.

Don had two favorite things, his BSA motorcycle and his GTO until he met Kim then he had three favorites!  He really enjoyed playing pool and was in several Leagues in Kirksville where he made several friends, until his health declined.  He also really enjoyed watching WWE wrestling.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Farmer, David Farmer, Dustin Farmer,Steve Hinrichs Farmer, Cody Roberts, and Edward Lanham.  Honorary Bearers will be Corbin Farmer, Lucas Lanham, Rondy Farmer, Blake Hinrichs, and Jeremy Hinrichs.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 15, 2024, with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the Dooley Funeral Home. Queen City, Mo. 63561.

Burial with Military Rites will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
