Don Pierce, 77, passed away early Friday morning, November 9, 2018, in the Schulyer County Nursing Home.
The son of Carlos and Alice Corrine (Martin) Pierce he was born August 21, 1941, in Kirksville, Missouri. He grew up in Kirksville and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1959.
On September 9, 1959, in Greentop he was united in marriage to Patricia Barnes and to this marriage two sons were born, Donald Joe and Jeffrey Lee.
Don and Pat lived in Kirksville for about a year and then moved to Queen City where they lived for over forty years. For the last twelve years they have lived in rural Greentop.
He worked for Reed Construction for twenty-nine years and then for Sparks Construction for thirty years retiring in 2012.
Don is survived by his wife Pat, his two sons; Donald Joe and wife Vickie of Greentop, and Jeffery Lee of rural Greentop. He is also survived by two granddaughters; Whitney Pierce of Colulmbia, Missouri and Courtney Pierce of North Hollywood, California, a sister Mildred Jane Miller and husband Ronald of LaPlata, Missouri. Also surviving are one nephew Ronald D. Miller and one niece Connie Couch and husband Bob all of La Plata and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother in law, Ada Barnes.
Don was a member of Queen City Lodge #380 AF and AM., El-Kadir Shrine Club of Kirksville, Moila Temple of St. Joseph, and a fifty year member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge.
He really enjoyed farming and the outdoors, hunting and collecting guns, liked to watch races on television, enjoyed visiting with friends, but most of all enjoyed his family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday (November 12, 2018) in the Davis-Playle Hudson Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Fowler, Jim Keim, Larry Keim, Kevin Myers, David Crabtree, and Tyson March. Honorary bearers will be Mark Starbuck, Donnie Crabtree, Preston Sparks, and Larry Sykes.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm (November 11, 2018) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Davis Playle Hudson Rimer Funeral Home, Kirksville, Mo. 63561.
Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
