Donald Lee Purkeypile

Donald Purkeypile, 81, formerly of Cincinnati, IA, passed away at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia, MO, on Friday, October 6, 2017.

Donald Lee Purkeypile was born in Missouri on April 13, 1936, the son of Dewey and Verna (Story) Purkeypile, who preceded him in death. He grew up in the Mendota area of Putnam County and served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He married Maria Hernandez in the Panama Canal Zone in July of 1959, and she survives. Donald returned to Putnam County after retiring from the Air Force and was employed as a farm hand. They later moved to Cincinnati, IA.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived three sons: Dewey Purkeypile of Cincinnati, IA, Paul Purkeypile of Unionville, MO, and Ronald Purkeypile of the state of Nebraska; and three daughters: Nancy (Chris) Lawrence of Louisville, KY, Evelyn (Brad) Thomas of Gilbert, AZ, and Donna Hiersche of Knob Noster, MO. Donald is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Arneson of Rockford, IL.

Others who preceded Donald in death were a son, Timothy Purkeypile; five sisters: Pauline Andrews, Helen Partch, Ruby Probasco, Nellie Marie Altiser, and Eva Thurlby; and one brother, Dewey Purkeypile.

Funeral services for Donald Purkeypile will be held at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date.
