Dorothy R. Davis, 99, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on February 2 nd , 2020, following a brief illness.
Dorothy was born on January 28 th , 1921, the daughter of Dow Virgil and Anna Blanch (Guffey) Bradshaw. Dorothy married Fred Davis on April 15 th , 1939, in Milan, MO shortly after her graduation. Dorothy had a love for cooking. Not only did she impress her family with her signature homemade pies, but she took her cooking skills on as a career, cooking for many restaurants including “The Tasty Freeze” and “Hickory House.” Dorothy spent her entire life as an active member of the Baptist Church attending every Sunday. Fred and Dorothy built a home with their own hands where she resided until she was 98 years old. Fred passed away in 1967. Dorothy always stayed connected with her friends and family through numerous telephone conversations. Dorothy will always be missed by her family who knew her as “Grandma Dot.”
Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren Kayla Davis of Affton, MO and Matthew Davis of Jacksonville, IL. Her surviving great grandchildren are Landon Copple and Layne Davis. Dorothy is also survived by nephews, Pat Bradshaw and David Bradshaw and niece, Deana Sanford.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fred, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Davis.
Funeral services for Dorothy Davis will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 8, 2020, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorial for Dorothy are suggested to the Unionville First Baptist Church and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565 .
