Dorothy was beloved by her whole family, and she considered her children and grandchildren to be the most important legacy she would leave behind. Together they shared many fond memories of quality time like making big Sunday dinners for the whole family (including her one-of-a-kind fried chicken), camping trips, and going on vacations to National Parks (and to look at flowers). Dorothy was a member of the Peacemakers quilting group at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, as well as an avid cross-stitcher. She was also a Master Gardener, who loved to give plants to her friends and family, and her gardens were featured in the garden tour of Kirksville. Dorothy was known as the sweetest Grandma and shared her love of animals, board games and cards with her grandchildren. Three of the games they played many times over the years were Yahtzee, Canasta, and Chinese Checkers. Dorothy faithfully attended Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, and in 2020, moved to Mexico, MO and joined the St. Brendan’s Catholic Church; unfortunately, due to the pandemic, she did not get to attend as much as she would’ve liked.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21, with visitation at 9:00a.m. and service at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. A Catholic mass will be dedicated to Dorothy at a later date.
