Dorothy Jean Miller

Dorothy Jean Miller 91 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the LaPlata Nursing Home.

The daughter of Dean Christman and June Page, she was born November 28, 1932 in Brashear, Missouri. On October 13, 1951 she was married to Dale C. Miller Jr. and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Jack Page; one sister, Joanne Lang and one half-brother, Gary Page.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Becky Goodin and husband Jerry of Princeton, MO and Peggy Brown and husband Jim of Kirksville; one half-sister, Zelda Elmore of Kirksville; five grandchildren, JD Goodin, Richelle Mason, Jennifer Moss, Ryan Hale and Lacey Miller; one step-grandson, Blake Brown; ten great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Baldwin of Marion, IA.

Dorothy was raised in Brashear, Missouri where she received her education, graduating with the Brashear High School class of 1950. She worked at the Brashear M.F.A. Store, the telephone office and the Edina Glove Factory. In 1960 Dorothy, Dale and their two daughters moved to Milan, Missouri and farmed. Dorothy worked at Banquet and Conagra Foods until retiring after 25 years.

She was a member of the Milan Christian Church. She liked to cook and try new recipes, feed the humming birds and have coffee with friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Milan Christian Church or the LaPlata Nursing Home Activities Program.
