Edsel Johnson

Edsel DeWayne (Tick) Johnson 85 of Davis County, Iowa passed away Sunday night (November 26, 2017) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of Carl and Ethel (Kinsler) Johnson, he was born June 4, 1932 in Davis County, Iowa. He grew up in Davis County where he attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School.

On December 7, 1952 in the Mark Baptist Church he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Joy York and to this marriage five daughters were born.
He was inducted into the United States Army in January 1953 where he proudly served his country for the next two years before being honorably discharged. Tick was a farmer and well known lamb and wool buyer until his health made it necessary for him to retire.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; his daughters, Brenda Kay Johnson, Beth Renee Fittro, Danita Lynn Roberts and husband Mike (Goldie), Janell Bea Pottorff and husband Kelly, and Jill Susanna Felice and husband Tony; nine grandchildren, Stikie Panos, Justin Yates, Nicholas Panos, Linsey Worden, Anthony B. Felice IV, Keith Wilson Jr., Alizabeth Cloud, Kalaeb Wilson, and Dylan Dean Felice; thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Wendall Johnson and wife Donna, George Johnson and wife Deloris and Dan Johnson and wife Linda; and two sisters, Sonja Swift and Linda Hoepner and husband Jim.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Johnson; a sister, Louise Gordy; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa.

Tick was a loving devoted family man and proud father of five girls and twenty-three grandchildren which he absolutely adored. He was a Godly man with unshakable faith and a respected pillar of the community. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 30, 2017) at Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (Dec. 1, 2017) at Mark Baptist Church with Pastor Sonny Smyser and Jonathan Kaushal officiating. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery in Monterey, Iowa.

Pallbearers will be Stikie Panos, Justin Yates, Nicholas Panos, Anthony Felice IV, Kalaeb Wilson, and Dylan Felice. Honorary bearers will be Mike “Goldie” Roberts, Kelly Pottorff, and Tony Felice III.

Arrangements under the direction of Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO.
