Evon Kinzler

October 27, 1927 — June 24, 2021

Evon Kinzler, 93, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville on Thursday, June 24, 2021.  She had been a patient there for less than a week.

Mae Evon Kinzler was born in Mystic, Iowa, on October 27, 1927, the daughter of Henry Orval and Ollie Mae (Birmingham) Cross, who preceded her in death.  She graduated from Centerville, Iowa, High School and married Ronald Kinzler on January 24, 1947.  They farmed in the Victor, Iowa, area before Ronald answered the call to ministry in the United Methodist Church in 1959.  Ron and Evon served several United Methodist congregations in Iowa for a number of years.  Evon was a faithful fellow servant as a pastor’s wife, filling many roles in the church and being a partner in life and ministry.  She worked as a cook at nursing homes, most recently Nora Springs and Creston Manor care centers.  She was a gifted seamstress, making quilts for all the grandkids.  She also did needlework and painting and she and Ron traveled to craft shows throughout Iowa where they each sold their crafts.  She and Ron moved to Unionville in 1995.  They were members of the United Methodist Church in Unionville.

Evon is survived by two children, Nancy (Alan) Foreman of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Ron Kinzler of Unionville, Missouri.  Her seven grandchildren are Darin Meinders, Samantha Jones, Chris Foreman, Renee Foreman, Andrea Kinzler, Delane Kinzler, and Shayna Kinzler. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, as well as a son-in-law, John Roberts of Holden, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ronald, who died December 29, 2020, and her sister, Peg Carlson.

Funeral services for Evon Kinzler will be at the Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Philadelphia Cemetery, Plano, Iowa.

Memorials are suggested to, and checks made to the Putnam County Ambulance District and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th , Unionville, MO, 63565.
