Francis Hugh Mcreynolds

Francis Hugh McReynolds, 91. A 62 year resident of Santa Monica California passed away peacefully Saturday July 23rd.

Mac, that’s what he liked to go by, was born In Macon County Missouri to Foster and Elsie McReynolds on December 22nd 1930 . Mac joined the Air Force where he met his wife Estelle. They were married for 35 years until her passing in 1989. He always spoke very fondly of his time in the service and the friends he made there. It was a very happy time in his life and he was very proud to have served.

Mac was a true business man! After working the bread route in Warrington MO. he decided to move his family to Santa Monica CA. where he opened his first business MAC’S DONUTS ! After a few years he went on to own 3 successful Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchises and he was proud to say that he had opened almost all the KFC’s in the California region as well as others. He loved his work and retired at the young age of 81.

Mac loved his home in Santa Monica , it gave him great joy. He enjoyed sitting in his kitchen looking out across Santa Monica and the beautiful Pacific Ocean . It mad him so very happy.
Mac was an avid gradener ! He loved his fruit trees, Whiskey Mac roses and of course his yearly  tomato plants. He shared his bounty of lemons and tomatoes  with friends and family every year.He was always pruning to make sure everything was healthy and beautiful. His was a lovely garden. He was also great on the BBQ!His back patio was a place of fun times with family, friends and great food!

Francis, Mac, was a kind, honest and generous man. A devoted husband and a loving and wonderful father. The best!
He is survived by his two daughters Lana Bennett and Kelly McReynolds and his four grandchildren,Greg, Amy,Ethan and Hayley.

A Graveside service with full military honors will be on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, MO.
