Garnet Peek

Garnet Peek, 89 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday (May 23, 2017) at his home.

The son of Gordan J. and Minnie Ellen (Sykes) Peek, he was born March 27, 1927 in Kirksville, MO. He grew up in Kirksville and attended the Kirksville Schools. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Built Rite Plumbing and Heating most of his working career.

He enjoyed going to the Uptown for coffee with friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Garnet is survived by his children, Judene Schillie and husband Randy of LaPlata, MO, Violet Glaze of Milan, MO, Garnet Neil Peek II and wife Debbie of Kirksville, John Peek and wife Connie of LaPlata, MO, Bill Peek and wife Shawn of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Don Peek of Kirksville; 8 grandchildren, Julie McNew, Jason (Shelly) Carmack, April Fredman, Garnet Neil Peek III, Alisha Schillie, Cara (Jeremy) Witten, Shawn (Angie) Peek, and Dustin Peek; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie; one daughter, Karen Kay Phelps; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (May 26, 2017) at Maple Hills Cemetery.
