Geneva Holliday

October 16, 1940 — March 2, 2019

Geneva (Garr) Holliday, 78, of Unionville MO passed away peacefully at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital.

Geneva was born in Livonia, MO on October 16, 1940 the daughter of Raymond and Velma (Bunnell) Garr, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Putnam County and attended area schools. Geneva married Herman Clay and they had 4 sons and later divorced. She went to work for Toast Master, Monroe Manor as a nurse’s aide, and then PC Hospital. She also worked as a bartender at the Friendly Tavern part time. Later she worked at ConAgra Foods for 10 years before retiring. Geneva met Junior Holliday and it was love at first sight. They were married on February 14, 1987 at the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO and were happily married for 31 years. What Geneva loved most was visiting with family and friends. She also loved jigsaw puzzles and working on puzzle books. She loved her little dog Cody that Junior got for her. Geneva had a good time going out on the road trucking with Junior. She loved different states and towns plus stopping at the ocean to get shells off shore banks. Junior preceded Geneva in death shortly before her.

Geneva is survived by 4 sons; David Clay of Bowling Green, MO; Francis Clay of Trenton, MO; Roger (Karin) Clay; and Larry (Carol) Clay all of Unionville, MO. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A brother Carl (Joyce) Garr of Greentop, MO also survives.
Geneva was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Clay and Genieve Campbell and 3 brothers, Edward, Jimmy, and Donald Garr. Four nieces; Malinda Garr, Betty Garr, Heather Caley, and Rhonda Campbell; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Dawn and Ashley Clay; brother-in-law, James Campbell; and sister-in-law, Barbara Garr also proceded her in death.

Geneva’s funeral service was held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home. Jeff Harlan conducted the service and her burial followed at the Rose Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
