Gerald B. Crow 90 of Kirksville, peacefully when to be with Jesus Wednesday (August 29, 2018) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The son of Emery and Bonnie (Barclay) Crow, he was born December 5, 1927 in Kirksville, MO. On July 27, 1964 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Annabel Long.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Annabel; one daughter, Sherri Green of Kirksville; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Crow and Tonja Green Schlessman and husband Donnie; four great grandchildren, Trevor Crow, Matthew, Ezra and Leanna Schlessman; special friends, Melissa Straube Herleth and Sara Williams; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one son, Larry Edwin Crow in 1969 while serving in Vietnam, and his mother-in-law, Grace Long.
Gerald grew up in Kirksville and graduated Kirksville High School in 1947. He entered the U.S. Army on March 27, 1945 and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He farmed for a short time, owned Crow’s Service Station, drove a school bus for Kenny Weber for many years, was a letter carrier for the post office for 9 years, delivered medicine for Elliott Pharmacy for 15 years, worked for the Community Action Agency, and lastly loved his job working in the dining room at HyVee.
He was a member of Kirksville Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M., Molia Temple in St. Joseph, Kirksville Moose Lodge, Hazel Creek Freewill Baptist Church, and a life member of V.F.W. post 2508. He held a chair in the Moose Lodge at the local and state levels, was past President of Kirksville Moose Lodge, served on the ritual team at the Moose Lodge, and earned a Pilgrim degree the highest degree in the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing pool especially on Monday nights at the Moose, loved baseball and coached the Moose team for 23 years earning at least one championship, and was a Cardinal Baseball fan.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (August 31, 2018) with a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 1, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Chapman officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
