Geraldine Gingerich

Marion Geraldine (“Gerry”) Gingerich, 91 of Kirksville passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

The daughter of Timothy and Jaunita (Winget) Summers, she was born November 1, 1929 in Kirksville, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Basil Christman and to this union three children were born. On September 13, 1959 in Kirksville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Dale Gingerich.

Geraldine is survived by one son, Donald Christman of Kirksville; ten grandchildren, Tamara (Jim) Bellings, Sondra Garr, Bradley (Crystal) Christman, Tracy Christman, Terri (Christman) Hubble, Troy (Amy) Christman, Tandy (Travis) Wilkinson, Dawn Christman, Joseph Christman, and Andrew (Sherry) Christman; several great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Karen Berry; two half-sisters, Patricia Daman, Sue Daman; two sisters-in-law, Verna Lou Anderson and Joan Watkins; a special niece, Kiesha Daman White, and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dale; Basil Christman; two sons, Edward Christman and Troy M. Christman; two brothers, Jerry Summers and Dick Summers; half-brother Tom Daman; half-sister Betty Jo Daman; nephew Olan Kendall Daman; daughter-in-law Cheryl “Gail” Christman; and sister-in-law LaVesta Malcom.

Geraldine grew up in Kirksville. She worked for Ruby Green Feed, Florsheim Shoe Factory, Elliott Pharmacy, and Hollister’s. She enjoyed crafts, collecting recipes, raising flowers, gardening, travelling, and canning.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons; Troy, Brad, Andrew, Trevor, Michael, and Kaleb Christman.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
