Deanie Lupton, 90, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville on Sunday, January 17, 2021, where she was surrounded by her loving family. She had been in failing health for several days.
Geraldine “Deanie” Ellen Lupton was born in Putnam County, Missouri, on September 16, 1930, the daughter of Gerald Otis and CDora Ellen (Lewis) Pickett. She was reared in Putnam County and attended Unionville High School. Deanie married Kenneth Lupton in Unionville on November 20, 1948, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2006. Deanie and Kenneth lived and farmed most of the married life in northern Putnam County where they raised and cared for their four children. Deanie worked occasionally at Lupton Meat Locker and served for several years as an election precinct worker. She was also very active at the Unionville United Methodist Church where she was treasurer for 20 years. She and Kenneth moved to Unionville in 2001. Deanie and Kenneth enjoyed playing cards with a host of friends in the community where there was always lots of food and fun. Deanie enjoyed traveling with Kenneth to gas engine shows and attending the flea markets at the shows. Deanie always wore a happy smile and had an easy going and friendly spirit.
Deanie is survived by her four children, Roger (Grace) Lupton, Des Moines, Iowa; Joyce Schoonover of Green City, Missouri; Randy (Wanda) Lupton of Unionville, Missouri; and David (Amber) Lupton of Kirksville, Missouri. Deanie’s surviving grandchildren are James Lupton, Lucus Lupton, Kendall Lupton, Tom (Shawna) Schoonover, Amey (Roger) McDonald, Tim (Karen) Schoonover, Jenny (Darren) Ryals, Cindy (Brad) Daniels, Mark Lupton, Shawna (Ben) Read, Charlie Lupton, Scott (Kim) Phillips, Grant (Michelle) Phillips, and Tara Phillips. Thirty-seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren (with two on the way) also survive as well as two brothers, Marvin Pickett and Bill (Stella) Pickett, both of Colorado, and a sister, Dora Sue Ross of Altoona, Iowa.
Deanie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a grandchild, RayAnn Schoonover, a great grandchild, Allison Phillips, a son-in-law, Stanley Schoonover, two sisters, Betty Mathews, and Mary Jo Cullum, and three brothers-in-law.
Private family graveside services will be held for Deanie. A Celebration of Life service will be held later in the spring.
Memorials for Deanie are suggested to Unionville United Methodist Church or Unionville Cemetery. and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th , Unionville, Missouri, 63565.
