Goldie Platte, 79 of Brashear, MO passed away Monday (August 12th, 2024) at her home in Brashear.
Goldie was born April 27th, 1945 in Hawkeye, IA, the daughter of William and Goldie (Menuey) Suhr. She was one of thirteen children with three sets of twins. On April 26th, 1964 in Hawkeye, IA, she was married to Howard L. Platte.
Goldie is survived by her children: Corrie Willis, Brenda Roberts, Anthony Platte, and Tiffany Norris; grandchildren: Andrew Roberts, Cecily Roberts-Williams, Natassa Roberts-Minear, Temprance Garrett, Grant Norris, Michael Norris, Kensington Norris, Davie Willis, Joey Willis, Lisa Willis, Carley Willis, Jasmine Willis, Elijah Platte, Benjamin Platte, Colby Platte, and Jordan Platte; great-grandchildren: Silas Williams, Eli Williams, Graham Minear, Paisleigh Anders, Stella Hull, Emma Hull, and Frank Roberts; brother: Elvin Suhr, Melvin Suhr, and Henry Suhr; sisters: Louis Kocher, Anna Unger, and Marlene Bradley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: William Suhr, Robert Suhr, Marvin Suhr, Louis Suhr, Judy Hoyt, and Jerry Suhr.
Goldie grew up in Hawkeye and was raised on the farm were she worked outside, cooked, and canned. She graduated from West Union High School before going to North Central Community College were she got her certified medical tech degree. Later she then went to Des Moines were she received a degree in theology. Goldie enjoyed playing cards, going dancing with Howard, loved going to Wal Mart, and quilting and sewing. She was a very active in all the churches she attended and reading her bible. She worked her way to becoming a Pastor and preached at Lighthouse of Love Church in Brashear. She was very influential with a lot of people through counseling and strongly encouraged and fought for women's rights.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 16th, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Kirksville. A Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
