Gordon Dwayne Capps

Gordon Dwayne Capps, 70, of Eastern Putnam County, passed away on December 21 ^st , 2019 at the Putnam County Care Center.

Gordon was born on August, 19, 1949 in Worthington, MO, the son of Glenn and Berneta (Hawkins) Capps. Gordon enjoyed most anything as long as it took place outside. He worked for many years as a farm hand before running a truck for Premium Standard Farms. On June 11, 1972 Gordon married Linda Loughead in Rock Island, IL and 2 sons were born to this union. Gordon loved 4-wheeler rides with his grandkids which sometimes ended the gang blackberry picking or playing in the water of the Chariton River. After Gordon took care of livestock, he and Linda raised chickens on their home place which was a true adventure. Gordon was also baptized along with his wife at the Hazel Creek Church.

Gordon Capps is survived by his wife, Linda and sons, Jeff Capps and wife Stacy of Unionville, MO and Gary Capps and wife Amanda of Kirksville, MO. Surviving grandchildren are Jackob and wife Makayla Capps, Jocelyn Capps, Gavin Capps, and Julyon Capps. Gordons surviving great grandchildren are Bruce McRae, Makenna Lenonard, and Amanda McRae. Gordon is also survived by 9 siblings, Kenny, Ed, Larry, Norman, Marvin, Peggie, Kay, Sylvia, and Bernita.

In addition to his parents, Gordon is preceded in death by a brother, Frankie.

Funeral services for Gordon Capps is at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 23, 2019. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lone Pine Cemetery, Martinstown, MO.
