Harold Hubbard, 64, of Powersville, MO, passed away unexpectedly at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, on Monday, July 16, 2018.
Harold Edgar Hubbard, Jr., was born in Harrisburg, IL, on July 19, 1953, the son of Harold Edgar and Laura (Peterson) Hubbard. He grew up in East Moline, IL. Harold worked for 29 years as a cook at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He retired in 2000 after a heart attack. He was faithful and loyal and was a hard worker who was well-liked by everyone. Harold also liked to cook for his family. Harold was a free-spirit and a happy person who loved children. He loved old-time rock and roll and attended many concerts. His favorite group was the Grateful Dead. He liked to build things like furniture and to add a deck to his cabin. Harold moved to rural Powersville in 2005 to be near his sister. Harold adapted well to the country and liked to fish and hunt squirrels.
Harold is survived by his mother, Laura Peterson of Moline, IL, and his siblings: Juanita (Doug) Davis, Powersville, MO; Buanita (Dave) Mattan, Erie, IL, Kathy Hubbard, of the state of Georgia, half-sister Loris Sides of Moline, IL, and two adopted brothers, Tim and Craig Peterson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Gerald Hubbard, and a nephew, Nathan Mattan.
Harold’s body will be cremated and private family services will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, Unionville, MO.
