Hilvina (Vine) Nellie Baiotto

Hilvina (Vine) Nellie Baiotto passed away May 13, 2021 at age 99, while residing at Highland Crest Assisted living, in Kirksville, Missouri.

Vine was born March 12, 1922 in Novinger, Missouri, the daughter of Marion C. and Rose A. (Cima) Baiotto.

A "Coal Miners' Daughter," Vine grew up on the banks of the Chariton River, in a coal mining camp known as "Riverside." She attended Salisbury Rural School and graduated from Novinger High School in 1940.

Vine began a teaching career serving in several rural schools; Novinger School, Kirksville School and Kansas City Schools while continuing her dedication to earn a BS and MA degrees from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, during the summers.

In 1949, Vine moved to Waterloo, Iowa continuing to teach for the next 40 years. She made many lifelong friends along the way.

In 2003, Vine moved to Kirksville to be near her family. She considered Kirksville a great place to live, enjoying many community events and volunteering with the RSVP.

Vine was preceded in death by her Parents; her brother, William M Baiotto; her sister, Marion Rose Hammer and her nephew, Kevin D. Baiotto.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elmira E Baiotto; nephews, Barry (Dixie) Baiotto, Steven (Donna) Baiotto and niece, Carol Casper Baiotto; 3 great nephews, 5 great nieces, 5 great great nephews and 4 great great nieces.

It is her wish to be cremated and no services to be held.
