Howard Hickman

July 6, 1951 — February 10, 2018

Howard Madison Hickman, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 10, 2018. Howard was born in Hannibal, MO on July 6, 1951 to the late John T. Holme Hickman and Shirley Woods Hickman. He graduated from Hannibal High School in 1969. He graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Missouri and the University of Missouri Law School. He began practicing law in Kirksville, MO with the late Harry Farr, his friend and mentor, in 1977. He practiced with the firm of Farr, Hickman, and Slavin until the time of his death. He enjoyed a long tenure as the City Attorney of Kirksville, MO. Aside from his family, his greatest loves were his many friendships, a good cigar, a good book, music, the Missouri Tigers, the St. Louis Cardinals, Trinity Episcopal Church, and most of all, Camp Oko Tipi. He was the Everlasting Chief of the Royal Order of Siam into which he inducted many faithful members. He was loved for his kindness and irreverent sense of humor. Above all though, his family meant everything to him.

His surviving family members include his wife of 43 years, Lisa, his sons Andy (Chandrika, grandson Boston) of Kirksville, MO and Cameron (Michele) of Columbia, MO, his twin brother Chase (Jane) of Hannibal, MO, and older brother Ben (Betsy) of Kirksville, MO, mother-in-law Carol Utterback of Hannibal, MO, Sisters-in-Law Lori (Brent) Cassidy and Linn (Steve) Ayers both of Hannibal, MO, Nieces and Nephews Benjamin (Annie) Hickman (Joey, Grace, and Josh) of Kirksville, MO, Laura (Kris) Steinman (Collin and Ross) of Hannibal, MO, Chase R. (Megan) Hickman (Henry and August) of Columbia, MO, Katy (Casey) Welch (Greta and Caden) of Hannibal, MO, Lindsey (Luke) Powell (Reid) of Hannibal, MO, Lew Ann (Andy) Quinlen (Adrianna) of Hannibal, MO, Haley (Matt) Wayman (Hack) of St. Louis, MO, and a very special family member, Michael Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Holme and Shirley, his father-in-law, Neil Utterback, his niece Pamela Hickman, and nephew Josh Cassidy.
