Hubert Truitt age 98 of Kirksville, MO passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home.
The son of Charles and Ella (Miller) Truitt, Hubert was born on October 10, 1920 in Pure Air, MO. On May 22, 1948 he was united in marriage to Margaret Evelyn Kimberly who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and eleven and brothers and sisters; Dorothy, Walter, Lavern, Bob, Lucille, Beulah, Norma, Lillie, Arnold, Max and Geraldine.
Hubert is survived by his two sons, Mike Truitt and his wife, Diane of Beloit, KS and Allan Truitt and his wife, Marsha of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Eric and Christine Truitt and Charlie and Renee Truitt and four great-grandchildren, Tanis, Drake, Kit and Wyatt all of Kirksville, MO.
Hubert was reared in the Pure Air Community in Missouri. He worked at farming until he left to serve a short time in the Navy. After the service he worked at Pratt & Whitney. After the war he returned to Kirksville and was employed by the City of Kirksville until he retired. He was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church where he served as the Treasurer. At the time of his death he was a member of the Pure Air Baptist Church.
After retirement Hubert enjoyed farming, raising cattle, hunting, fishing and gardening. In the later years, he enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, he also enjoyed meeting his son and friends for coffee at McDonalds..
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Cordray officiating. Burial will be in the Greencastle Cemetery in Greencastle, MO.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Daniels, Jason Daniels Tanis Truitt, Drake Truitt, Ronnie Truitt, and David Truitt. Honorary bearers will be Wyatt Truitt, Kit Truitt, Jena Daniels, and Bob Crump.
Memorials are suggested to the Pure Air Baptist Church or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
