Jackie "Jack" Eugene Davis

February 17, 1958 — December 1, 2018

Jackie “Jack” Eugene Davis passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home in Kirksville, Missouri at the age of 60.

Jack was born on February 17, 1958 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Junior Dean and Bessie Bee (Fields) Davis who both preceded him in death.  Jack spent most of his younger years moving around Iowa and Missouri and eventually settled in north central Missouri.

Jack had an infectious laugh, one that usually ended with him needing to use his inhaler because he got to laughing so hard. He spent a lot of time lying in bed while talking on the phone to anyone and everyone. If he had your number, you probably got a lot of calls from him.

Jack also enjoyed playing cards, drinking Pepsi, and going over to his brother Dale’s to “help” work cattle - by help we mean he enjoyed watching more than working!   People will remember most though his storytelling. He swore up and down that his stories were true, but everyone listening knew he liked to stretch the truth “just a little” to make the stories more amusing.  He was also known for making others laugh by repeating the same story over and over with changes each time.

In his younger days, Jack also worked at several junk yards in Kirksville, Missouri and Centerville, Iowa.  If you were to ask anyone he worked with, they would all vouch that he could cut more iron in ONE day than two men put together.

Jack loved his family and friends more than anyone could imagine. He worshipped the ground his mother walked on. Bessie took care of him and his siblings after losing their father, a time they needed her the most.  In return when Bessie’s (Granny’s) health started to fail, Jack was there to take care of her. His family is forever grateful for the amazing care he provided for her. While his father, Junior, died when Jack was young, he remembered him with love and mourned his loss greatly.

Jack had a heart of gold and would have done anything within his power to help anyone in a time of need.  Those left to cherish his memories include: his best friend Becky Davis; son Damien Gates; grandson, Malakai Gates; three siblings: Don (Debbie) Davis, Linda (Philip) Neville, and Dale (Kristi) Davis; his beloved nieces and nephews: Danielle (Robbie) Davis-Wilson; Kevin Davis, Brandon Segelke; Trevor Scott, Nathan (Jonah) Scott, Stormy Rodriguez, Bradley Davis, plus many cousins, great nieces, nephews, and one great-great nephew.  Jack’s stories and laughter will live on forever through the love of his family and friends. What he’d want most though is for us, his family, to say thank you to each and every one of you for being such an important part of his life!
