Jackie (Jack) Dale Wilson

Jack Wilson, 70, of Lucerne, MO, passed away at his home in Lucerne on Monday, November 4, 2019. Jack had significant issues the last thirteen years, but he continued to function and be as active as possible with a good attitude. His health had declined the last three weeks.

Jackie Dale Wilson was born in Centerville, IA, on February 10, 1949, the son of Dale and Vera (Wells) Wilson. He grew up on the family farm in Lucerne where he lived his entire life. Jack graduated from Newtown (MO) High School in 1967 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. He served nearly two years when his parents were involved in a serious automobile accident and Jack was honorably discharged to care for them and the farm. Jack farmed, running cattle and baling hay, and then took a job in sanitation at Banquet Foods in Milan, where he worked for 30 years until ill health forced him to retire at 57. He farmed during the day while working nights at Banquet.

Jack married Linda Patton in Milan, MO, on February 14, 1995, and she survives at home. Jack was engaged in crafts, especially wood working, during his retirement. He made miniature barns, doll cradles, and toy boxes for nieces and nephews. He and Linda sold their cattle in 1998. Jack liked to deer hunt and loved to be with his nieces and nephews. Jack had been on kidney dialysis for ten years.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by a sister, Darlene (Bud) Wyant of Milan, MO, several nieces and nephews, and a brother and sister-in-law.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Steve Wilson and Robert Wilson, who died in childhood, and a nephew, Tyler Dale Wilson.

Funeral services for Jack Wilson will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 10:30 Saturday, November 9, 2019. There will be no visitation. Interment with military honors will be at the Lucerne Cemetery.
