Jim Baugher, 77, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away at the Headrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Jim had been in declining health the past several months.
James Ardell Baugher was born on the family farm in Harris, Missouri, on October 20, 1944, the son of Robert and Julia (Niccum) Baugher who preceded him in death. Jim grew up in the Harris area and graduated from Newtown-Harris High School in 1963. He helped his dad on the farm while also being in the National Guard Reserves. Jim worked for Banquet Foods in Milan and for 17 years with Voltmaster in Corydon, Iowa. He retired after working briefly for Smithfield Foods. Jim married Linda Heisdorffer in Newtown, Missouri, on February 14, 1987, and she survives at home.
Jim was an avid fan of tractor pulling and especially enjoyed following the Robinson family from Lucerne in their pulling. He also liked truck pulling. Jim really enjoyed working in his yard. He spent most of his life in Sullivan and Putnam counties and he and Linda lived east of Lucerne for nearly 30 years. He was easygoing with a big smile and enjoyed visiting with people, especially friends at the PC Café and Resource Center. Jim was a member of Broadlawn Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Jim is survived by a son, John (Marsha) Baugher of Woodbine, Maryland, and a stepdaughter, Kathy (Dan) Hullinger of Harris, Missouri. His grandchildren are Marah Baugher, J. J. Baugher, Cassandra Baugher, Brian Baugher, Jake Hullinger, and Jodi Hullinger. His great granddaughter is Jazivanna Hullinger, and his sisters are Joyce Williams of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Mary (Arnold Werteen) Stimpson of Mooresville, Missouri.
Funeral services for Jim will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 2, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Walter Griffen will conduct the service with recorded musical selections “Ten Thousand Angels” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers will be Marty Williams, Jason Stimpson, Shawn Stimpson, Brett Stimpson, Donald May, and Johnn Mino. Interment will be at the Newtown Cemetery in Newtown, Missouri.
Memorials may be made payable to the PC Café Resource Center and entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
