November 23, 1942 — March 9, 2019

James Knoch, 76, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Jim had been a resident at the Care Center since 1996.

James E. Knoch was born in Ft. Madison, IA, on November 23, 1942. He grew up in Davenport, IA, where he attended and flourished at a special needs school. He and his mother, Helen Shulz, moved to Winfield, IA, when Jim was 16 and they lived there for a number of years before moving to Unionville. Jim lived a full life with Cerebral Palsy. He was the delight of all who worked at the Putnam County Care Center and a fixture for 23 years. Jim was a people person who liked to tease and be a little ornery. He loved to be the center of attention and, though his communication skills were limited, he had a sharp mind and quick wit. Jim had a good sense of humor and a big smile. He liked to watch westerns and he will be sadly missed by his Stottlemyre family and his PCCC family.

Jim is survived by a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Sandy) Stottlemyre of Unionville, MO, and three nieces: Debbie (Rick) Sanders, Knoxville, TN; Cheryl (Tom) Livengood, Centerville IA; and Rhonda (Dennis) Kelley, Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his friends and family at the Putnam County Care Center and his special friend at the Center, who was a good companion, Betsy Gottman.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Stottlemyre.
