James Thompson

James Oren Leonard Thompson, 48 of Livonia, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at his home.

The son of Rex Rayford and Linda Kay (Springer) Thompson, he was born May 4, 1971 in Newton, Iowa. On February 9, 1992 in Newton, Iowa he was united in marriage to Tillena Collins.

James is survived by his wife, Tillena; five children, Nicholas Bookout of Grinnell, IA, Teresa Thompson and Brenden of Grinnell, IA, Jessica Thompson and Jeremy Richardson of Cedar Rapids, IA, David Thompson of Kirksville, MO and Kayden Thompson of Livonia, MO; one brother, John Thompson of Ft. Dodge, IA; one sister, Lola Richards of Ft. Dodge, IA; six grandsons and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one sister, Shandy Enlow.

James grew up and attended school in Grinnell, Iowa. At the age of 18 he met Tillena and they were married on February 9, 1992. He attended truck driving school in 1994. From 1994 to 2010 he was a company truck driver. In 2010 he bought his own semi and was an owner operator for the next six years. He was currently a school bus driver for the Putnam County, Missouri Schools.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, eagles and taking care of the yard. He also enjoyed motorcycles, 4 wheelers, tractors and music. He was a big gentle giant that had a firm hand when needed.

James will be cremated and no service will be held. Arrangement in the care of Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
