James E. Winslow, 85 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday. September 5, 2018 at Kirksville Manor Care.
The son of William Maurice and Eunice Gertrude (Clark) Winslow, he was born September 17, 1932 in Adair County, MO. On August 28, 1955 in LaPlata, MO he was united in marriage to Ardella Marlene Campbell.
Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene; and two daughters, Mitzi Ann Winslow of Kirksville and Robin Dawn Winslow Burbank and husband Scott of Belleville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Richard Winslow.
Jim grew up on the farm in the Sperry community, moved with this family to Kirksville when he was in the 7 th grade and graduated from the Kirksville High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army in the guided missile unit from 1951 to 1953. He worked for McGraw Edison, Bailey Limestone, Kirksville Savings and Loan, and with his brother Richard at Winslow Bookkeeping until the age of 81.
He was a member of the Optimist Club, Kirksville Moose Lodge, Adair Lodge #366 A.F. & A.M., and First United Methodist Church. He loved Cardinal baseball and the Missouri Tigers.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the LaPlata Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Adair County Humane Society or for Missions at First United Methodist Church.
