Janet Moore, 64, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. She had been in failing health for several weeks.
Janet Leigh (Butler) Moore was born in San Diego, CA, on February 22, 1953, the daughter of Ronald Leon and Virginia (Govan Busch) Butler. She moved to Iowa with her parents at a young age and then to Rockford, IL, where she attended elementary and high school. Janet began work as a nursing assistant after high school and continued her education in the nursing field. She earned an Associate of Arts degree and was an LPN before obtaining her RN degree in 1988. Janet worked for over 20 years in the Emergency Room at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL. She also worked in the GI Lab and Intensive Care Units later in her career at that hospital. During time as a nurse also she received numerous awards for her work in domestic violence advocacy. Her nursing career, which spanned over 30 years, was perhaps her proudest of many accomplishments. Janet moved to Unionville to be the primary care giver for her grandmother, Bonnie Butler, who passed away in 2011.
Janet was a quiet person who enjoyed her close circle of friends. She liked to be independent and liked to sit on her swing in the country and watch the hummingbirds at their feeder. She had recently lost her canine friend, Buddy. Janet liked to cook and loved catering any family or friend gathering she could. She loved nothing more than taking care of, feeding, and providing for people and her pets. Even in her last days in the hospital she was offering nursing staff the food off of her plate as they fed her.
Janet is survived by a son, Andrew Moore of Grand Rapids, MI, and a daughter, Jaime Anne Moore of Rockford, IL. Her three grandchildren are Atreyu Leng, Korbin Leng, and Emsley Foley. She is also survived by her father, Ronald Leon Butler, a brother, Ronald Butler, Jr., and a sister, Judy Williams all of Rockford; her twin sister, Janice Amundson of Stillman Valley, IL, and her sister Jennifer Lloyd of Fayette, MO. Janet is also survived by her Uncle Donald Butler and Uncle Gerry Butler and his wife Doris Butler. Janet is also survived by her numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother, a son, Michael Moore, who died in infancy, a sister, Eleanor Tappendorf, her grandparents Floyd and Bonnie Butler, and her Aunt Opal Butler.
Memorial services for Janet will be held in Unionville and in Rockford at a later date. Arrangements are under direction of Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
