Jeanie Morris

Jeanie Morris, 95, of Unionville, MO (formerly of Lucerne, MO) passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on Monday, October 31 ^st , 2022.

Jeanie Morris was born in Lucerne, MO, on April 9, 1927, the daughter of Eugene and Pearl (Fitzwater) Lessy.  Shortly after graduating, Jeanie married Bill Morris and five children were born to this union.  Jeanie was a farmer’s wife who also loved tending to her own garden.  Jeanie was quite the seamstress her entire life.  Later in life she even sewed and gifted over 500 bags that fit onto walkers for assistance.  She was a lifelong member of the Lucerne Christian Church and a long-time member of the American Legion Axillary.  Above all, Jeanie enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jeanie Morris is survived by her 4 children, Janet Schmidt and husband Marty of Unionville, MO; Kerry Morris and Wife Diane of Phoenix, AZ; Kathy Koska of Kansas City, MO; and Sandra Gilworth and husband Danny of Unionville, MO.  Jeanie’s grandchildren are Bill Schmidt, Katrina Gatlin, Ashley Morris, Tracy Alexander, and Tiffany Welch.  Her great grandchildren are Tristen Miller, Jake Gatlin, Madison Gatlin, Skyler Welch, Aubrey Welch, Peyton Morris, Tyson and Taylor Alexander and a great, great grandchild, Paislee Alexander.   Jeanie is also survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Morris of Kansas City; Willa Dean White and husband Warren of Newtown, MO, Shirley Morris, and Sharon Lessy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanie was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Morris; son-in-law, Michael Koska; brothers, Carl and George Lessy; sisters, Hazel Robbins, Maudie Richardson, and Cleo Webb; and brothers-in-law, Jim, Bob, and Sam Morris.

Jeanie’s funeral service was held at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home on November 3, 2022, at 11:00 am with her visitation beginning one hour prior to her service with Pastor Doug Fairley officiating.
