Jewel Ruth (Baughman) Casady died April 11, 2018, at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville, Iowa. She was born October 31, 1920, to William and Jennie (Hart) Baughman.
Jewel resided in Chariton, Missouri, most of her life and received her education at the Wells School and graduated from the Livonia High School. After graduation, she worked during World War II in an airplane factory while her beloved served our country. On January 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harry Leddin Casady.
Running the Chariton Store with Harry and her mom and dad kept her pleasantly busy. Also, as a homemaker Jewel took pride in babysitting (and spoiling) her grandchildren, cooking for them every chance she had. She enjoyed being with her family, playing games, working with ceramics, gardening, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Mt. Hermon Church was a significant part of Jewel’s life, and she actively participated in UMW, as well teaching Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School. Ice cream suppers and soups suppers allowed her even more opportunities to cook for the people she dearly loved.
Jewel is survived by her children Nelma Foust (Leroy) of Tulsa, OK; Rev. Robert Casady (Susan) of Springfield, MO; and Roger Casady (Tammy) of Unionville, MO; by eight grandchildren, Jennie Orr, Jamie Foust (Janette), Jeremy Casady (Ariane), Rachel Evans (Brent), Tessa Ervin (Michael), Daniel Casady, Jonathan Casady, and Alexandra Cutler (Jason); eight great-grandchildren, Weston and Kassi Bock; Abbie and Calin Casady; Macy, Casady, and Logan Evans; and Oren Cutler; by one sister-in-law, Betty Casady.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie, and young daughter Carol Jeannine. Harry also preceded her in death in 1998.
Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Unionville, MO, at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Chariton, MO.
The family of Jewel Casady has established a memorial for Hospice and the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Donations may be entrusted with Playle-Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th Street, Unionville, MO 63565.
