Joe Anne Burris, 82 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

The daughter of Robert (Bob) Schreckhise and Josie Hall Schreckhise, she was born April 29, 1936 on a farm near Bucklin, MO. She married Martin Lee Burris on March 6, 1954.

She is survived by her daughters, Toni Hamilton and husband Steve of Kirksville and Sherry WagenKnecht; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Craney of Overland Park, KS; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one grandson, Spenser Harris; five brothers; six sisters; and two sons-in-law, Dr. Dwight WagenKnecht and Danny Harris.

Joe Anne belonged to RSVP for 12 years, Senior Circle 11 years and was a member of the First Christian Church. She did bookkeeping and billing for many years at Highsters in Peoria, IL and for BGP Corp in LaPlata, MO. She owned and operated restaurants in Elmer and LaPlata.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday (September 7, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Jim Pitney and Chaplain Karen Spearer officiating. The family will inter her remains at a later date..

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
