John Verlan Brummit, 34 of Chicago, IL passed away Saturday (January 6, 2018) in Chicago, IL.

The son of John M. and Janet Kay (Wilson) Brummit, he was born September 1, 1983 in Kirksville, MO. He graduated from the Waukee, Iowa High School in 2002. He attended the University of Iowa. In 2006 he moved to Chicago, where he worked as a stationary Engineer for Transwestern for the last 10 years. He was currently attending College in Chicago to get his master’s degree in Engineering.

He was a member of the Engineers Union 399 in Chicago. He loved his family and his dog. He loved life and was an avid collector of many things.
John is survived by his parents, John and Janet Brummit of Waukee, IA; one brother, Justin Brummit and fiancée Sammie Almeida of Roswell, GA; his grandparents, Vernell and Henrietta Wilson of Kirksville; uncles and aunts, Dennis and Ramona Brummit of Ormond Beach, FL, Randy and Phyllis Brummit of Kirksville, Mike and Linda Brummit of Kirksville, Dennis Wilson of West Des Moines, IA, Eddie Wilson of Kirksville and Mike Metz of Casper, WY; his dog, Teddy and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Willadene Brummit; one brother, Jared Brummit; and one aunt, Cathy Metz.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday (January 11, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend Scott Beard officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brummit, Mike Brummit, Eddie Wilson, Mike Kline, Morgan Mayer and Charles Fraser.
