John Edward Knaack age 86, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at The Mexico Veterans Home, Mexico, MO.
John was the son of Hermann and Opal (Holman) Knaack. He was born October 23, 1931 in Hurdland, MO.
John is survived by sister, Martha Macklin,and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Knaack and Willard Knaack and sisters, Ethyl Funk and Mary Petree,
John was raised in Hurdland, MO and graduated from Hurdland High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was proud to serve his country. After the war, John lived in Hurdland for a few years and traveled to Kansas to work in the wheat fields during Harvest. Later he began his working career with ROHR, an aircraft plant in San Diego, California where he called home for over 33 years.
Upon retirement at age 59, he moved to Kirksville, where he would make his home until entering the Mexico Veterans Home.
As per Johns request, he will be cremated. He did not wish to have a funeral, so we will respect his wishes. Arrangements under the direction of
