John Mcqueen

John Dee McQueen 88, passed away Saturday (April 6, 2019) in the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO.

The son of William Porter and Selma Ellen (Gipson) McQueen he was born April 21, 1931, in Fairbanks, Texas. At the age of seven he moved with his family to Missouri. He attended school in Low Ground, Martinstown, and graduated from Unionville High School with the class of 1947.

On May 5, 1952, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Vincent who survives. He is also survived by his children; Dennis McQueen and wife Margaret of Purdin, MO, Patrick McQueen and wife Jody of Oskaloosa, Ia., Dwight McQueen and wife Myra of Chariton, IA., Vince McQueen and wife Regina of Novinger, MO, Becky McQueen of Columbia, MO, Bonnie Carman and husband Tom of Martnstown, MO, Linda Harris of Kansas City, MO, Brian McQueen of Waverly, IA, Todd McQueen of Pella, IA, Jessica McQueen of Unionville, MO, and Penny McQueen of Columbia, MO. John is also survived by a brother Coleman McQueen and wife Dorothy of Lees Summit, MO, a son-in-law Larry French of Columbia, MO, a sister-in-law Carol Western and husband Richard of Queen City, MO, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Carol Marie French, brothers Robert, Jack, and Frank McQueen, sister Daisy Jane McQueen, granddaughter Karen Elizabeth McQueen, and a grandson Eli Asher Sanders.

John worked for John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, for three years before entering the United States Army where he served from 1952 until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. Much of his service time was spent in Germany. After his discharge he returned to work for John Deere where he continued to work for another twenty-two years. In 1968 they moved to the Low Ground area in Missouri where John farmed until retiring in 2000 and moving to Warsaw, MO. Four years ago he and Evelyn moved to Holt Summit, MO and in October of 2018 they moved to Livonia, MO.

John was a member of the Novinger Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be Wednesday (April 10, 2019) at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Rowland officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at the Lone Pine Cemetery west of Worthington.

Pallbearers will be Tommy French, Asa McQueen, Josh McQueen, David McQueen, Chris Bartmess, and Justin Bartmess. Honorary bearers will be Gabe McQueen, Mike Bartmess, Alex Cole, Ben Cole, Will Garland, and Noah Sanders.

Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (April 9, 2019) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p m in the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri.
