Johnie F. Haynes, 91 passed away Sunday (March 18, 2018) at Kirksville Manor Care.
The daughter of Coy and Mary (Ong) Williams, she was born October 25, 1926 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. In 1943 in Worthington, MO she was united in marriage to Vahl Haynes and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Loren Haynes, two brothers, Billy and Henry Williams and one grandson.
Johnie is survived by her children, Leon Haynes of Summerville, SC, Sharon Hines of Kirksville, and Lynn Haynes of Kirksville, eight grandchildren, Regene Haynes, Lee Haynes, Corbin Haynes, Kelli Robbins, Wyeth Hines, Spencer Hines, Ty Haynes, and Michelle Rosensteel; one great grandson; two sisters, Nita Keys of Tulsa, OK and Christine Dodd of Norman, OK; one nephew, Benny Hammer and one great niece, Michelle Hammer.
Johnie lived in Graysville, MO where she and her husband operated a grocery store. They moved to Rockford, IL where they owned and operated restaurants including an A&W. She moved back to this area after her husband’s death and ran the Wewokan Restaurant in Greentop and then a restaurant in Queen City until she retired.
She was raised in the Baptist Church. She was involved with Women of the Moose. She made quilts an was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and was a Cardinal fan.
Johnie will be cremated and a service will be held in Oklahoma at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
