Judith Maher, 77, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She had been in declining health for a few months.
Judith Anne Maher was born in Jackson County, Missouri, on February 27, 1943, the daughter of Ruby and Wilma (Davis) Hankins. Her father was killed in action during the Korean War and Judith was raised by her grandmother in Richmond, Missouri. Judith worked at a variety of retail jobs and on December 16, 1995, she married John Thomas Maher in Chicago, Illinois. She helped John in his HVAC business in the Chicago area. Judith and John moved to Unionville in 2010. John preceded Judith in death on March 25, 2020.
Judith loved to ride motorcycles with John. She also liked to garden and had nice rock gardens at her home. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She also deeply loved her children. She liked to be out and about with John but was also content to stay at home in a quiet life.
Judith is survived by four children: April (Clarence) Conner of Novinger, Missouri; Lisa Dudgeon of St. Petersburg, Florida; David Robinson of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Roy Robinson, Jr., of Lebanon, Oregon. Ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
Judith was preceded in death by her father and mother and by her stepfather, Ed Hinkle. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Traynor and a brother, Ed “Skipper” Hinkle, Jr.
Inurnment for Judith will take place at Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri, at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 26, 2021. Full military honors will be given for John at the time.
