Junior Holliday

Ellsworth Junior Holliday, born October 5, 1948, passed away peacefully at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

Junior was born in Pennville, MO, the son of Charlie Ellsworth and Julie “Loula” Marie (Myers) Holliday. He was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his life, driving coast to coast and getting to see most all of the United States. Junior retired from trucking in 2010 after working his last 15 years driving for Tico Mfg. He served his country by joined the US army on April 30, 1968. He was a foot soldier, field wireman, and automatic weapons specialist. He served with the Howitzer Battery, 3rd squad and was stationed in Germany. Junior completed several trainings while in the army and received the Good Conduct medal, the National Defense Service medal and the sharp shooter M-16 medal. Junior was Honorably Discharged on April 23, 1970.

Junior married Geneva Garr, the love of his life, on February 14, 1987. Together they combined their families and had 8 children between them: daughter Rebeca Holliday of Rolla, MO, sons Chris Holliday, David Clay, Francis Clary, Larry (Carol) Clay and Roger (Karin) Clay, all from Unionville, MO. Junior had 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and he loved each and every one of them. Junior is also survived by four siblings, William Holliday, James Benton “Hop” Holliday, and Jimmie Dale Holliday, all of Unionville, MO, and Lizzie Gilbert who resides in Iowa.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Geneva, Ben Holliday, James Wesley Holliday, Lee Ann Holliday Morrow, Birdie Holliday, and Lois Holliday.

Funeral services for Junior Holliday will be at the Hartford Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 12, 2018. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at the Rose Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Rose Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
