Karreon Lee “Kate” Morton, 76 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the LaPlata Nursing Home.
The daughter of Cecil Leonard and Lottie (Beaman) Selby, she was born September 6, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. On March 31, 1962 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Joseph (Joe) E. Morton.
Karreon is survived by her sons, Todd Morton and Tony Morton of Kirksville; four grandchildren, Colt (Shannon) Lewis, Kiel Morton, Taydem Morton, and Alyson Morton; five great grandchildren, Brayden Lewis, Ashlyn Lewis, Rylee Lewis, Chase Morton, and Riker McCasland; one sister, Betty Fox of Kirksville and a niece and nephew, Susan (Dennis) Dew and Lester “Butch” Fox.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother-in-law, Lester Fox.
Karreon attended school in Hurdland, Banner School and graduated from Kirksville High School. She when to work right out of high school for the Florsheim Shoe Factory where she worked 40 years until she retired. She was an active member of the union while working at the Shoe Factory. She and her husband also farmed, ran a car lot and salvage yard for 52 years.
She enjoyed her grandkids, cooking with her granddaughter, and crocheting.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019, with funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Gibbs Cemetery in Gibbs, MO.
Memorials in memory of Karreon are suggested to the Gibbs Cemetery.
