Kathleen Halley, age 95, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on July 1, 2018. She was born on September 25, 1922 in Unionville, MO the daughter of Ernest T. and Sarah Jane (Brooks) McHenry. Kathleen was the 8th child out of 13 children born to this union.
Kathleen attended Unionville schools and graduated with the class of 1940. She went to Ottumwa to find work after graduation. In December of 1944 she was united in marriage to Raymond Halley of Powersville, MO. In 1949 they moved to Unionville on a farm west of town where she has resided over 60 years.
Kathleen had never lived on a farm before she got married, but soon became adjusted working side by side with her husband Raymond and loving every minute.
Kathleen was a member of the Baptist Church in Unionville and later when her health permitted she attended the West Liberty Baptist Church which was closer to home.
Kathleen and Raymond were the parents of 2 sons, Phillip Craig and Roger Paul. She was a busy homemaker. Kathleen loved the outdoors, her flower garden, and wind chimes. Crocheting was one of her hobbies. She made close to 1,000 crocheted names through the years.
Kathleen belonged to the Independent Club for many years. She was happiest when she was around her family. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathleen also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins she was fond of.
In addition to her parents and husband, those preceding her in death were 6 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 grandson, Brian Halley.
Those left to morn her passing are a son Phillip and wife Denise and family; a son Roger and wife Joni and family; a brother, Amos McHenry; and a sister-in-law, Iva Halley.
Memorials for Kathleen are suggested to the PC Café and Resource Center, Unionville Cemetery, or Putnam County Care Center and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
