Laura Ann Bagby, 72, of Kirksville Missouri passed away on April 5 th , 2021 in Sarasota, FL where she was surrounded by family and sunshine for the last 4 years.

Laura was born on August 10, 1948 in Davenport, IA to Sally Gillette and William E Stotlar. Shortly after they moved to Waterloo, IA then to Corydon during her senior year of high school with her mother and stepfather. She married Edward Bagby on May 23, 1967. They moved to Kirksville, MO in 1970. Laura attended college at N.M.S.U. where she received her bachelor’s degree in English in 1988 and then her master’s degree in 1990. She taught English at N.M.S.U and Moberly Community College before working as an academic assistant at K.C.O.M and teaching online at Southern New Hampshire College.

Laura was active in the community belonging to the Lioness Club, Red Cross, Red Barn Arts league, Curtain Call Community Theater, Girl Scouts, English Honor Society and English Club. She was an artist, published author and lifelong learner.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Bagby, Sarah Bagby and Katy Wendel, granddaughter, Rebecca Bagby, grandsons, Troy Seeman, Caleb Wendel and wife Jessica, great granddaughter, Juniper Wendel, brothers, Jeffery Gillette and wife Tracy, Mark Gillette and wife Bonnie, sister, Teresa Terry and husband Guy along with many nieces and nephews.

Laura's memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville.
