Laura Ellen Hummel

Laura Hummel, 87, of Lucerne, MO, passed away July 30, 2019, at Wright Memorial Hospital, Trenton, Missouri.

Laura Ellen Hummel was born in Putnam County, MO, the daughter of Johnnie and Alice Boland who preceded her in death. Laura graduated from Lucerne High School in 1950, and on May 4, 1950, Laura married Herman H. Hummel who proceeded her in death on July 15, 2008.  Laura and Herman farmed in Putnam and Mercer Counties all their married life.  They milked dairy cows and raised beef cattle where their children learned the lessons of hard work.  Laura drove a bus for the Newtown-Harris School District and was a teacher's assistant for the Putnam School District. Laura was a member of Lucerne Christian Church, she loved to sew, garden, and care for her flowers.

Laura is survived by five children:  Beverly (Clifford) Furnish of Milan, MO; , Virginia (David) Hulsopple of Savannah, MO; Sara (Tim) Blanchard of Lucerne, MO; Martin (Debbie) Hummel of Lawson, MO, and Margaret Brown of Princeton, MO.  Laura is survived by 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Claire (Ron) Pitts of San Benito, TX.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by two brothers Ivan and Russell Boland, and one sister Linda Boland.  Also preceding her was a son-in-law, Leroy Brown.

Funeral services for Laura Hummel will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at the Lucerne Cemetery, Lucerne, MO.
