April 10, 1945 — January 31, 2020

Lexlie “Lexie” Lou Bland, 74 of Novinger passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Virgil Leonard and Rose Lee (Gillespie) McFarland, she was born April 10, 1945 in Novinger, Missouri. In 1964 in Novinger, MO she married Russell Phillips. On June 29, 1990 she married Bill Bland.

Lexlie is survived by her son, Russell Eugene Phillips and wife Debra of Edina, MO; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Jami) ElSaid, Taliena (Billy) Fawcett, Nathan (Kate) Gammons, John Phillips, Hananh Phillips, and Abigail Phillips; nine great grandchildren, Saraphina, Zoi, Christine, Angela, Gunner, Remington, Ashley, Caroline, and Jocelyn; one sister, Florence Waddell of Blue Grass, Iowa; a special nephew, Johnny, nieces, Rosebell and Julie, and cousin, Linda; along with other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Virgil McFarland; five sisters, Mildred Clay, Virginia Troup, Billie “Tillie” McFarland, Loretta Cowles and Mabel McFarland.

She was always a very compassionate person to everyone around her, always willing to help people. She was the main caregiver to our family and was right there whenever they needed a helping hand. She loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Talking about them to anyone who would listen. She also loved the people she worked for and thought of them and their families as an extension of her own. Her favorite activity was spending Saturdays with her grandkids, going to yard sales and shopping. And also working on her yard. She worked her whole life to help make the lives of everyone around her better.

She worked for the same company for decades even as it changed hands she was faithful to it and those she served.

She always had pets in her home, lastly were her 2 dear little dogs Cindy and Spike whom she doted on. She could even be found taking care of stray cats in the community.

She saw her family as family no matter if by blood or marriage she loved them all.
