Lloyd Wayne Allen

Lloyd Allen, 84, of Unionville, MO passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, January 20, 2023.

Lloyd Wayne Allen was born near Omaha, MO on February 3, 1938, the son of Homer and Elsie (Mitchell) Allen.  He attended the Berry Rural School and graduated from Livonia High School in 1955.  Lloyd married Arlene Brown in Livonia on June 18, 1955. The young couple moved to Maxwell, IA soon after their marriage, where Lloyd worked as a farm hand.  They went to Yakima, WA on the apple picking crew before returning to Putnam Co. in 1958.  Lloyd began his bulldozing career in 1962, working for Carl Trump of Kahoka, Mo. The family returned to Putnam Co. in 1968 where Lloyd continued operating a dozer until retiring in 2010.  Lloyd was well known for the quality of his work.

Lloyd will be remembered as a hard-working man who loved his family.  He liked to cut firewood, take care of his lawn, hunt, fish, and was a master at picking out hickory nuts.   Lloyd also raced stock cars in his early years.  He will be well remembered in the area for his love of music.  He played and sang with the Vincent Family for over 45 years with one of the highlights of his music career being a guest on the Dailey & Vincent Show featured on RFD TV.  Lloyd accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on March 18, 2009.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour, IA.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 67 years.  He is also survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Curtis) Riley of Unionville, MO; Donna (Jim) Butler of Minden, NE; and a son, Bobby (Lisa) Allen of Clever, MO.  His twelve grandchildren are Jeremy (Dani) Riley, Tiffinie (Dave) Arnold, Linda Butler, Ariane (Jeremy) Casady, Angela Riley, and Noah, Avery, Jace, Isaac, Emmett, William, and Esther Allen.  Lloyd’s thirteen great grandchildren are Shelby, AnnaKate, Audrey, and Logan Riley; Abbie and Calin Casady: and Bailey, Cassandra, and Olivia Arnold; Milla and Sophia Butler and Ali and Ava Evans.  He is also survived by a brother, Paul (Emeline) Allen of Kahoka, MO; two sisters, Reta Ollmann and Neta Pierce of Cairo, MO; and brother-in-law Clifford (Nancy) Brown.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warren and Robert Allen; and a sister, Betty Smith.

Funeral services for Lloyd Allen will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, with visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 24.  Interment will be at the St. John Cemetery north of Livonia.
